Our Work

The Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) has been funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment to undertake three projects as a program of works to transform the capacity of and provide support to the wide range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers to assist them in supporting students with disability.  

Australia’s first free online training course in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) created specifically for staff in the Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training Sector. The program focuses on the principles and practices of UDL in tertiary settings and aims to increase your understanding of designing, developing, and implementing UDL into your teaching practice.

ADCET manages the Disability Awareness website in partnership with the NDCO program. On this website there are five eLearning programs that are free for individuals to undertake online: Introduction to Disability Awareness; UDL in tertiary education; Orientation for External Support Workers in Tertiary Settings; VET Staff Supporting Students with Disability; and VET Educators Supporting Students with Disability.

ADCET hosts various webinars that aim to support and provide relevant and timely information to Disability Practitioners, Academics, Educators and students with disability. In this section, you will find recordings from previous webinars as well as upcoming ones. 

Darren's UpdATes. Darren Britten has been employed as the National Assistive Technology Project Officer through the NDCO program.  Darren will be sharing the many things that come across his virtual desktop every week.

ADCET received a grant from the Department of Education Skills and Employment in 2020 to develop resources and provide support to the disability Tertiary sector with the impact of COVID-19. In this section, you will find information, tips and emerging practices that were developed through this grant.

ADCET Disability Practice in the Spotlight showcases good practice by disability practitioners in the VET and University sector.

ADCET podcasts bring you stories that explore the landscape of disability within the tertiary education sector, here in Australia and overseas.

A variety of people have shared their experiences for the ADCET blogs, including Disability Advisers, NDCOs and students with disability.

 ADCET has developed a number of Guidelines to provide support to the disability Tertiary sector.
