ADCET is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and fully complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth). 

Information Collected

When you visit this website, the server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes: 

• the address of your server; 
• the time and date of your visit to the website;
• the documents you have accessed; and
• the type of browser you are using. 

When you send us an email, send us feedback, or if you complete and submit an electronic form on our website we may record: Your role and the sector (eg Teacher in Higher Education) and your email address 

Use of Information Collected 

This personal information will only be used for the stated purpose for which it was provided or for the purposes of testing, validating, evaluating or developing ADCET services without your express consent. It will not be disclosed to a third party, other than our development team. 

Confidentiality 

Your personal information will be held in strictest confidence. We take all reasonable steps to ensure that information is not subject to loss, misuse or unauthorised access or alteration. We also take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer required.

We do not, however, provide facilities for the secure transmission of information across the internet and you should be aware that there may be risks associated with the transmission of personal information via the Internet. If you prefer you can communicate with us by post or telephone. 

Links 

This website contains links to the websites of other organisations which may be of interest to you. Linked websites are responsible for their own privacy practices and you should check those websites for their respective Privacy Statements. 

Cookies 

A cookie is a short message given to your web browser by a web server. Your browser stores the message and sends it back to the server each time you return to that website. The main purpose of the cookie is to save you setting your profile at each visit to the site. The cookie identifies your browser, not you personally. Log Files 

ADCET follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and are a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information. 

Cookies and Web Beacons 

Like any other website, ADCET uses 'cookies'. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

Third Party Privacy Policies 

ADCET's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

Children's Information 

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. 

ADCET does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records. 

Artificial Intelligence Policy

This statement sets out ADCET’s position on the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Our position is based on three guiding principles.

1. ADCET content and ideas are human-led and informed.
2. AI can be useful as enabling technology, including for reasonable adjustments.
3. ADCET publishes quality resources that can inform AI systems.

ADCET content and ideas are human-led and informed

People remain responsible for ADCET content, ideas and editorial decisions. We use human knowledge, lived experience, and judgement to create, review and approve our work.

AI tools may support parts of this work, but they do not replace human responsibility. ADCET staff and contractors remain responsible for the accuracy, accessibility, relevance and quality of final content.

AI can be useful as enabling technology

AI tools can support people to access information, communicate, organise work and complete tasks. AI can be useful as enabling technology or as part of a formal or informal reasonable adjustment.

The appropriate use of AI depends on the person, the task and the setting. People using AI remain responsible for following relevant requirements and checking that outputs are accurate, accessible and suitable for their purpose.

ADCET resources can inform AI systems

AI systems may access and use publicly available ADCET resources when in alignment with our Creative Commons position. ADCET works to publish accurate, accessible and useful information about disability and tertiary education.

ADCET does not currently seek to block AI systems from accessing publicly available resources where that access is permitted. Access to ADCET content does not mean that ADCET endorses an AI system or its outputs. Information produced by AI should be checked against the original ADCET resource and other authoritative sources.

Webinar Policy

This policy applies to live ADCET webinars and online events, and sets out what we ask of participants during a session. Our Artificial Intelligence Policy covers how ADCET uses AI in its own work, and how AI systems may use the resources we publish on this website.

AI recording and transcription tools

Participants joining an ADCET webinar are not permitted to use, enable, or deploy any artificial intelligence (AI) tools, bots, or automated systems to record, transcribe, summarise, or otherwise capture the content of the webinar. This includes AI meeting assistants, transcription services, automated note-taking tools, and similar technologies.

ADCET provides live transcriptions and other accessibility options during webinars, and all sessions are recorded and made available on the ADCET website after the event. If you require the use of AI software beyond the options available during a webinar, please contact admin@adcet.edu.au in advance of the session to discuss your needs.

ADCET reserves the right to remove any unauthorised AI participants from our webinars.

By joining an ADCET webinar, you agree that you will:

• participate without using any external AI recording or transcription tools; and
• not attempt to capture or reproduce session content by automated means.
