Research collaboration on Generative AI and students with dyslexia in higher education (Deakin/Coventry)
Abdullah Mert Pekel, a doctoral researcher in a cotutelle (dual) PhD program between Deakin University and Coventry University, is seeking university students with dyslexia to take part in a study on Generative AI and neurodiversity in higher education.
The project explores how students with dyslexia engage with Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) during their academic writing process. The findings aim to inform evidence-based, inclusive pedagogies. The study will examine the potential of these tools to promote equitable access and more inclusive assessment practices, as well as the risks they may pose for neurodivergent students in both the Australian and UK contexts.
Important to know:
- Participants must be aged 18 or older and currently enrolled at an Australian or UK higher education institution
- No official dyslexia assessment is required
- The study involves a survey, a short writing task and an interview
- Participants are reimbursed for their time
