Good Practice Stories in VET Disability Support Needed
ADCET invites you to contribute to an important VET sector project that will showcase good practices in equitable and inclusive vocational education and training for learners with disability.
About the Project
The Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET), in collaboration with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), is developing a collection of resources showcasing initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusion in VET. These resources will demonstrate practical, evidence-based examples and case studies to support learners with disability as outlined in the 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations.
The resources will cover key areas relevant to VET delivery including:
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) implementation in VET contexts
- Accessible digital content and learning technologies
- Innovative and inclusive assessment practices
- Work placement and workplace learning support
- Learner voice and co-design approaches
- Staff capability building and professional development
- Reasonable adjustments and learner support services
Why Contribute?
By sharing your practice or initiative, you will:
- Contribute to VET sector-wide improvement in accessibility and inclusion
- Showcase your RTO's commitment to supporting learners with disability and meeting the 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations
- Share valuable insights and lessons learned with VET practitioners across Australia
- Help other RTOs and trainers learn from your experience and adapt proven approaches to their contexts
- Gain recognition for the excellent work you and your team are doing
What We're Looking For
We are seeking examples of practices, initiatives, or approaches in VET that:
- Demonstrate measurable positive outcomes for learners with disability
- Align with Universal Design principles and contemporary accessibility standards
- Are transferable to other VET providers and training contexts
- Have been implemented for a meaningful period (minimum 6 to 12 months)
- Include learner perspectives and feedback
We welcome contributions from all types of VET providers including TAFEs, dual-sector institutions, private RTOs, enterprise RTOs, community providers, and Learn Local organisations. Examples can be from any industry area, qualification level, or mode of delivery (face-to-face, online, blended, workplace-based).
How to Contribute
- Complete the questionnaire
We have developed a comprehensive questionnaire to help you document your practice. It covers implementation details, evidence of impact, challenges encountered, and lessons learned. The questionnaire takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. See attached 'Practitioner Interview and Survey Questions' for a detailed list of questions. - Provide supporting materials (optional)
If you have relevant documents, training resources, assessment tools, evaluation reports, photos, videos, or other materials that would help illustrate your practice, we would be delighted to receive them. All materials should be accessible or we can assist with making them accessible. - Review and approve
If your practice is selected for inclusion in this project, we will work with you to develop a case study and provide you with the opportunity to review and approve the content before publication.
