Education Support Officer - Wodonga Institute of TAFE
Employment information: Casual; $37.91 - $42.62 per hour plus super
The Wodonga Institute of TAFE are seeking a dedicated expert with experience supporting students facing literacy, disability, and ESL challenges. As an Education Support Officer, you’ll empower students who identify through the Institute’s enrolment or self-referral process as needing extra support due to a diagnosed disability, medical or mental health condition, or learning challenges. Your role will be key in helping them navigate language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills for success.
Duties
- Facilitate learning and promote success to students requiring academic support.
- Provide support to students within established Institute procedures to facilitate the student's ability to actively participate in their studies.
- Seek guidance from the Disability Liaison Officer or Team Leader Support Services.
- Use your decision-making skills within established policy and procedures.
- Display empathy and problem-solving skills demonstrating an attitude of dignity and respect towards people of all abilities, practicing a person-centred approach of empowerment and self-determination.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma Community Services and / or demonstrated recent experience, or a suitable combination of lesser qualifications and relevant experience.
- Drivers Licence.
Desirable
- Experience with on-line learning platforms e.g. Moodle.
- Relevant Diploma in education, community services or specialist support.
- Experience in working with students where English is their second language.
