    Academic Accommodation for Students with Psychiatric Disability - A Resource Book

    Students with psychiatric disabilities are entitled to reasonable academic accommodations under the DDA (1992) and Disability Standards for Education 2005. Providing effective accommodations allows students equal access to academic courses and activities. This resource is concerned with the impact of mental illness on academic pursuits, and the development of strategies to study successfully.

    Accommodating College Students with Learning Disabilities: ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia - US

    This paper by Melana Zyla Vickers, examines the nature of this assistance and discusses the policy questions it raises. The report is based on interviews with on-campus experts in learning disabilities, professors who deal with learning-disabled students, and students themselves. It incorporates statistics showing the rise in accommodations for college students' mild learning disabilities.

    Competence standards and reasonable adjustments - UK

    ECU has produced guidance to support HEIs meet these institutional and legal responsibilities, and promote disability equality. The guidance provides information and examples on: understanding key concepts in disability legislation; the legal definition of competence standards and its relation to disability legislation; identifying and developing non-discriminatory competence standards; professional bodies and competence standards; considering reasonable adjustments in the assessment of competence standards; meeting competence standards on work placements and fieldwork; informing students of competence standards and their assessment.

    Detailed subject-based case studies have been produced for the: geography, earth and environmental sciences (GEES); modern languages; nursing; teaching; and, early years provision.

    JobAccess: Employment Assistance Fund

    The Employment Assistance Fund (formerly Workplace Modification Scheme WMS) helps people with disability and mental health condition by providing financial assistance to purchase a range of work related modifications and services. Assistance is available for people who are about to start a job or who are currently working, as well as those who require assistance to find and prepare for work.

    NCSEHE 2020/21 Research Grants Program

    The successful projects to be funded under the 2020/21 NCSEHE Research Grants Program have been announced.  There are 17 projects in all, two with a focus on students with disability: Re-imagining exams: How do assessment adjustments impact on inclusion?; and, Investigating the relevance of mental health for the current equity groups framework using multi-agency linked-administrative data.
