National Disability Strategy (NDS) beyond 2020
All governments are committed to a national approach to supporting people with disability to maximise their potential and participate as equal citizens in Australian society. The development of this National Disability Strategy (NDS) is the first time in Australia’s history that all governments have committed to a unified, national approach to improving the lives of people with disability, their families and carers, and to providing leadership for a community-wide shift in attitudes.
What happens when the current National Disability Strategy finishes at the end of 2020?
On Friday 4 December 2020, Disability Ministers from across Australia issued a Statement of Continued Commitment to the National Disability Strategy. The statement is a commitment to continue efforts under the National Disability Strategy to uphold the rights of people with disability between the expiry of the current Strategy at the end of 2020, and the finalisation of the new National Disability Strategy in 2021.
