Student Wellbeing Officer - Box Hill Institute
Employment information: Full-time, on-going position; $76950 - $82782 p.a. + 12% superannuation
The Student Wellbeing Officer plays a vital role in supporting students to overcome personal, academic and life challenges. Working as part of a collaborative Student Life team, you'll help create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes engagement, retention and success across a diverse student cohort.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive, student-focused wellbeing services including drop-in support, early intervention and crisis response
- Deliver advice and strategies to teaching staff to support student retention and engagement
- Work collaboratively with the Student Life team to design, facilitate and evaluate workshops, orientation programs and wellbeing initiatives
- Support students experiencing complex issues (mental health, financial, social or personal) and refer to appropriate internal or external services
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and contribute to reporting requirements
- Liaise with community services and internal stakeholders to ensure holistic support for students
- Promote wellbeing services and foster engagement with Student Life programs across campuses

Qualifications
- A degree in Social Work, Counselling, Community Services, Youth Work or a related field; or
- A Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a related discipline, together with substantial relevant experience
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in counselling, welfare, youth work or similar student support roles
- Ability to provide timely intervention and support for complex mental health and wellbeing needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving capability and the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally and empathetically
- High level administrative and organisational skills, including maintaining confidential records
- Cultural awareness and the ability to work inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Alignment with a child-safe, inclusive and values-based workplace
- Have, or be willing to obtain, Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
