Principal Adviser, Accessibility & Welfare - The University of Queensland
Employment information: Full-time, fixed-term until December 2028; $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7); Location: St Lucia Campus.
Support students to thrive at UQ by providing expert advice, inclusive support and targeted programs that remove barriers to participation. As a Principal Adviser in the Accessibility and Welfare Team, you will work closely with students, staff and external partners to deliver coordinated support for students experiencing disability, health conditions, wellbeing challenges or exceptional circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert advice and case-managed support to students experiencing disability, medical conditions, wellbeing concerns or exceptional circumstances.
- Design and coordinate tailored adjustments and support plans that enable equitable participation and academic success.
- Create and deliver workshops, resources and activities that promote inclusion, wellbeing and successful student transitions.
- Work with faculties, support teams and external services to coordinate support, provide guidance to staff and strengthen student wellbeing outcomes.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate and driven professional who champions student success and wellbeing. You will bring:
- A relevant degree (e.g. Social Work, Sociology, Behavioural Science, or Psychology) with at least four years' experience, or an equivalent mix of education and professional experience.
- Proven ability to understand human behaviour and provide proactive, needs-based support for students facing personal, academic, or wellbeing challenges.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver programs and services effectively in a digitally enabled environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and judgement skills, offering clear, confidential, and considered guidance to students and staff.
- Experience developing inclusive strategies that support student engagement, including students with disability or from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- A collaborative approach and professional manner, demonstrating tact, discretion, and cultural awareness in diverse team settings.
