In-Class Learning Support - TAFE Gippsland
Employment information: Part-time 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week); Fixed term until 11 December 2026; Approx. $58,000; Based at Traralgon Campus
TAFE Gippsland are seeking a dedicated and compassionate In-class learning support worker to join their Foundation team. In this role, you will play a critical role in providing learning support to students with disabilities and/or mental health conditions, fostering inclusion, independence, and equitable access to learning.
As part of our inclusive education team, you will work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement individual learning and behavioural support plans, provide one-on-one or small group assistance, and contribute to the creation of a safe, respectful, and empowering learning environment. This position is institute-based and involves contributing directly to positive student outcomes through meaningful engagement, adapted learning support, and inclusive practices. Some occasional travel between campuses may be required. As this role is not required during school holidays, you will be paid annual leave during this time.
About You
You are a supportive, empathic professional who is passionate about making education accessible and inclusive. You hold a minimum of a Certificate III in Education Support or Disability Support (or equivalent experience) and bring with you a sound understanding of the diverse needs of students in adult learning environments.
Your interpersonal and communication skills are exceptional, enabling you to build effective relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders. You demonstrate patience, flexibility and a commitment to person-centred support. Experience in educational settings, particularly in TAFE or adult learning, is highly regarded.
You are confident using relevant information and communication technologies and are familiar with current best practices in education and disability support. Your professional conduct, confidentiality, and team-orientated mindset ensure that you contribute positively to the wider educational community.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate III in Education Support or Disability Support or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated commitment and experience in person-centred practice
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers and other stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
