Event details
Professional staff and less-experienced authors will learn how to present data clearly and effectively in this free professional development session with Dr Christine Devine and Dr Dana Burfeind.
This webinar is designed for professional staff and first-time authors who are new to publishing and to working with data in their writing. If you’ve been wondering how to present data clearly and effectively, this session will offer practical tips and guidance to help you get started.
The session will step through practical ways of working with data, including how to present different types of evidence, how to format tables and figures, and how to integrate data into your writing so that it strengthens your argument rather than sitting alongside it. A particular focus will be on making data accessible to your audience, while still maintaining clarity, credibility, and rigour.
Drawing on a range of examples, the session will highlight different ways to move from description to insight, and how to use data to show what matters in your work. It is intended to provide grounded, practical guidance that participants can apply directly in their own writing, particularly for those who are less familiar with publishing.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- present different types of data in clear and accessible ways,
- select and format tables and figures to support their key messages,
- integrate data into their writing so it strengthens their argument,
- move from describing data to using it to generate insight, and
- use data to tell a clear and compelling story of practice and impact.
