Manager Student Wellbeing Support - UNSW College

Employment information: Full time; Location - Kensington campus

UNSW College are seeking an experienced and values-driven Manager, Student Support to lead and strengthen their student wellbeing and disability support function.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for the operational delivery and continuous improvement of student wellbeing, equity and disability services across the College. You will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering frontline student support, while shaping a more proactive, preventative and student-centred approach to wellbeing and inclusion.

This role is not just about managing services - it’s about lifting capability, improving systems, and ensuring students receive the right support at the right time.

They are looking for someone who combines strong operational leadership with emotional intelligence and sound judgement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Student Support team, including team leaders and wellbeing staff
  • Oversee equity and disability services, including equitable learning plans and reasonable adjustments
  • Provide oversight of complex student cases and critical incidents, including after-hours escalation
  • Drive a shift from reactive support to early intervention and prevention frameworks
  • Monitor service effectiveness through data, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strengthen collaboration across wellbeing, academic and support functions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks (e.g. ESOS, disability standards)
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including health and support providers

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading student wellbeing, disability or support services
  • Strong background in equity, disability support and reasonable adjustments
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex casework and critical incidents
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to identify risks early and implement preventative strategies
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • High levels of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and integrity

You are someone who

  • Thinks beyond immediate problems and looks to prevent them from happening again
  • Can lead by example in high-pressure and sensitive situations
  • Brings a calm, measured and student-centred approach
  • Is comfortable making decisions and backing your judgement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education or a related discipline
  • Relevant professional registration (e.g. AHPRA or AASW), where applicable
  • Minimum 2+ years leadership experience (larger team environments preferred)
  • Demonstrated frontline experience in student support, wellbeing or similar settings
