ADCET's Jane Hawkeswood Receives ATEND Life Membership Award

ADCET and the University of Tasmania are proud to celebrate Jane Hawkeswood, ADCET Project Coordinator, for being awarded Life Membership with the Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND) This link takes you away from the ADCET page at the recent Pathways Conference held at the University of Queensland.

This prestigious award recognises Jane's extraordinary contributions to disability support in the Australian tertiary education sector spanning more than two decades. Since ADCET's inception in 2002, Jane has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining this vital resource for disability practitioners across the sector. She has steered the team through all of ADCET’s iterations from a simple repository to the sophisticated and influential resource it is today.

Jane’s commitment to inclusion, advocating for students with disability and excellence in practice has contributed to shaping disability support infrastructure in Australian tertiary education. During her time with ADCET she has contributed to the delivery of hundreds of resources and facilitated many professional development opportunities that have reached tens of thousands of users, extending disability awareness beyond the Australian tertiary sector into broader communities, businesses and organisations.

The ADCET team describe Jane as “amazingly humble, dedicated, hardworking, knowledgeable, open to change and innovative.” They acknowledge, Jane’s central role, noting that “without Jane, ADCET would not be able to deliver the work that we do.”
