Access and Inclusion Advisor - TAFE SA
Employment information:
The Access and Inclusion Advisor is responsible for the provision of specialist disability related services and information to support students living with disability to achieve equitable participation at TAFE SA. The incumbent will liaise with lecturers and other TAFE SA staff and work strategically to support the inclusion of students at TAFE SA.
Key Responsibilities include
- Assess disability support needs and collaborate with relevant staff members to provide reasonable adjustments and support to students.
- Development and implementation of Access Plans for students living with disability.
- Provide specialist training and consultancy support to other Student Success and Wellbeing staff delivering services for students living with disability.
- Knowledge and understanding of the unique barriers to accessing support for apprentices and trainees living with disability.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and an ability to apply its intent within a complex organisation.
- Understanding of the concepts of reasonable adjustments and inherent requirements within an educational setting.
- Experience in service delivery for people with disabilities within an educational context is highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience in the areas of assistive technology, or other relevant specialist disability experience is desirable. (i.e. wayfinding, augmented communications).
