Accessibility Adviser - UWA
Employment information: Full time. Range: $100,524 - $111,534 p.a. plus 17% Super.
The Accessibility Adviser at the University of Western Australia provides individualised support to students with disability in a higher education setting. The role involves assessing student needs and providing expert advice and training on assistive technologies such as screen readers, speech-to-text software, accessible formats, and alternative input devices. Additionally, the role includes establishing and reviewing policies and procedures related to accessibility and equity, whilst staying current with disability legislation and diversity issues in Australian higher education to champion inclusive learning solutions across the university.

About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency, preferably in Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or other appropriate degree.
- Substantial and extensive relevant or clinical experience closely related to working with people with a disability, mental health condition, or other chronic medical conditions in a range of settings.
- Knowledge of current equity and diversity issue,s particularly as they relate to students with disability in higher education in Australia and a working knowledge of guiding principles and legislation relating to disability.
- Demonstrated expertise in assistive technology, including the ability to assess student needs and provide advice and training on tools (e.g. such as screen readers, speech-to-text software, accessible formats, and alternative input devices).
- Ability to establish and review policy and procedures.
