Inclusion and Disability Services Officer (Case Management) - The University of Sydney

Employment information: 1-year full time, fixed term position, base salary $108,557 + 17% superannuation

The Inclusion & Disability Services is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Inclusion & Disability Services Officer (Case Management) to join their high performing team. In this role, you will be the principal contact within Inclusion & Disability Services for neurodiverse students seeking adjustments to enable them to participate in their education at the University of Sydney.

You will be responsible for conducting assessments of neurodivergent students, making recommendations to relevant staff within the University regarding appropriate services and support, as well as coordinating the ongoing provision of these services and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Manager, Inclusion and Disability
  • support students with disabilities by coordinating reasonable adjustments and enabling access to education
  • provide expert advice to students and staff on inclusive practices and accommodations
  • conduct assessments for students with disabilities and recommend appropriate services, considering institutional impact
  • manage complex cases for neurodiverse students, ensuring tailored and ongoing support
  • contribute to policy development, foster industry networks, and promote collaborative team communication
  • oversee reporting, monitor risk and compliance, and uphold health, safety, and university policies.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, allied health, social sciences or a related field and/or extensive demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • significant demonstrated experience in working with students with neurological conditions
  • knowledge of higher education environment and demonstrated understanding of the needs of tertiary students with a disability
  • demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology
  • high-level ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
  • experience in providing services to a diverse client group.
