Senior Adviser (Access, Inclusion and Learning) - UWA

Employment information: Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed-term basis until 28/5/2027

The University of Western Australia's Disability Service provides support to students with disabilities, medical or mental health conditions. The service provides confidential advice and information to registered students and assists with educational access through the use of assistive technologies and the implementation of reasonable adjustments. The team also supports requests for alternative exam arrangements and develops and promotes resources, online and on campus, to support their study. The team work closely and collaboratively with the academic community and other services in Student Life to provide holistic and integrated support to students to achieve their study goals and support their wellbeing.

About the opportunity

  • You will lead the design and delivery of strategic initiatives that enhance access, inclusion, and learning for students with disabilities.
  • Working closely with academic and professional staff, you will drive service innovation through deep consultation, data analysis, and student co-design.
  • You will support review of processes, including provision of reasonable adjustments, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee work to shape the future direction of Disability services at UWA, embedding inclusive design principles, strengthening institutional capability, and ensuring the service remains responsive, collaborative, and evidence informed.

About you

  • Relevant qualification in education, social science, disability services, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial and extensive relevant experience at an appropriate level, particularly in designing and delivering strategic projects or service innovations that improve access, inclusion, or learning outcomes for students with disability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive learning and access principles in a higher education context.
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, policy, and frameworks related to disability inclusion and accessibility in tertiary education.
  • Ability to coordinate teams and projects, manage timelines and competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex organisational environment.
