Royal Disability Commission - ADCET submission on the Education and Learning Issues Paper
ADCET provided a comprehensive response to this issues paper drawing on the experiences of disability practitioners, educators, staff and students within the tertiary education sector to outline some of the more prevalent examples of neglect and exploitation that people with disability experience.
Key topics included:
- cultural and attitudinal barriers to people with disability participating in tertiary education
- insufficient funding between schooling and tertiary education sector
- accessibility issues for people with disability (digital, physical, learning and cultural)
- systemic barriers such as building capacity around disability responsiveness, structural issues relating to disability inclusive strategies, and understanding legislative obligations.
