How to make post-secondary study more accessible? Collaboration between instructors and disability counsellors (Canada)
This article, from The Conversation (10 January, 2023) explores the current issues in accessibility and support for students with disability in universities in Canada. These concerns reflect the same challenges faced in Australia. This includes strategies to tackle barriers for supporting the success of students with disability in higher education. The article highlights the need to implement strategies such as disability awareness of staff, improving digital accessibility, implementing Universal Design for Learning, better processes for implementing reasonable adjustments, and the important role of disability specialists.
