Disability Officer - Monash University
Employment Information: Full-time, 12-month fixed-term appointment; $83,424- $95,825 pa HEW Level 05 (plus 17% employer superannuation)
Monash University is seeking a Disability Officer to support accessibility and student success at Clayton campus. The Disability Officer manages a full-time caseload of students, including those identified as ‘at risk’, providing tailored support and fostering independence and self-advocacy across the student community. The Disability Officer contributes to innovation by researching and recommending cutting-edge technologies to enhance academic support. Collaboration with colleagues, sharing expertise and contributing to operational planning is a core part of elevating service delivery and informing the future of Disability Support Services.
To be successful the ideal candidate will have:
- A solid understanding of Commonwealth and State anti-discrimination legislation and a commitment to access and equity for people underrepresented in higher education
- A growth mindset and dedication to staying up to date with industry standards through relevant professional development and training
- Experience assessing and coordinating reasonable adjustments to enable success in higher education
- Proven ability to confidently engage with staff across the University and external organisations - negotiating, influencing and building strong partnerships around disability support
- High level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to a wide range of audiences
- A collaborative and self-directed approach to work, comfortable working in a team or independently. You’ll bring excellent organisational skills, with the ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, meet deadlines and maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy.
