Accessibility Consultant - University of Technology Sydney
Employment Information: Full-time, continuing; base salary range: $107,402 - $118,813 pa (HEW 7); 17% super
The Accessibility Consultant (AC) is responsible for supporting, consultation and Access Plan development, advisory counselling, referral, and liaison service to students with disabilities and ongoing medical conditions and contributes to the Accessibility and Financial Assistance Service in support of the university's policies related to access, equity, retention, and success.
Duties
- Providing professional support to students with disabilities and access requirements, including assessing individual requirements, recommending accommodations, and managing cases using Access (Accommodate Symplicity).
- Advising faculty on appropriate learning and assessment arrangements that comply with legislation while advocating for students and encouraging self-advocacy.
- Maintaining effective communication and collaboration with university units, faculties, and external organizations, identifying complex cases for review and participating in case conferences.
- Contributing to student programs, staff training, team meetings, quality reviews, and development of policies and procedures responsive to diverse student needs.
- Maintaining accurate client records, assist in producing service data, and carry out additional duties as requested by the Accessibility & Financial Assistance Service Manager.

- Ability to deliver high quality services and work effectively with people with disabilities.
- Well-developed time management skills and capacity to make optimal use of available information technology.
- Experience working with people with disabilities and managing caseloads with a focus on holistic support.
- Knowledge of approaches to accommodating students with disabilities in education.
- Ability to build relationships and positive rapport to work effectively with a wide range of academic and general staff members.
- Applied Knowledge of legislation relevant to the position.
