Update from the National Disability Research Partnership (NDRP)

Career transitions research for young people with disability

Applications are now open for NDRP's Commissioned Research Project on improving transitions to careers for young people with disability.

There are three funding opportunities each focusing on a different group of young NDIS participants (aged 15–25) receiving NDIS employment assistance supports: Broad focus, First Nations focus, and Complex support or communication needs focus.

They are seeking disability-led teams with policy expertise and multi-organisational partnerships.

Applications close: Friday 21 November 2025

Inaugural Disability Research Leadership Program

The NDRP’s new Disability Research Leadership Program will support up to eight Master’s by Research or PhD students with disability with $30,000 in a one-year program.

Informed by consultations with research students with disability, the program addresses barriers that existing scholarships may not cover.

Participants receive up to $15,000 financial support and up to $15,000 flexible funding for research and professional development. They also join a national community of practice and leadership development opportunities.

Open to current Master's by Research and PhD candidates with disability enrolled at Australian universities whose work aligns with the NDRP Research Agenda.

Applications open 27 October and close 3 December 2025
