Assistive Technology Specialist - RMIT University

Employment Information: Full-time, fixed-term position commencing January 2026 until December 2026; HEW 7 + 17% Superannuation

As Assistive Technology Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting equitable access to learning and research by providing expert guidance, training, and support in the use of assistive technologies. This position ensures that students with disabilities have access to inclusive digital and physical learning environments, in alignment with RMIT’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of assistive technology support to people with a disability.

  • Experience in delivering assistive technology applications and solutions that address the diverse needs of students or people with a disability.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and data analysis skills to make informed recommendations for assistive technology purchase and implementation.

  • Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively, deliver solutions, use initiative, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Experience in supporting the delivery of services to people with diverse needs. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively as a member of a team and to initiate, develop and negotiate effective relationships with clients, including staff and students.

  • Demonstrated ability to draw on data insights to inform reporting and service design.
