Modernising and strengthening TEQSA’s powers
The Government has released a consultation paper on potential amendments to the TEQSA Act to modernise and strengthen TEQSA’s powers. It is inviting views about the future regulation of Australian higher education and on potential changes to the TEQSA Act to align with Government and community expectations.
The consultation paper also considers opportunities to streamline regulation for universities and other higher education providers so they can focus on teaching and learning and ways to support a joined up tertiary system, helping more Australians get the skills and qualifications they need.
The consultation paper contains 16 key questions on the future direction of Australia’s higher education regulatory system. Students, staff, and members of the wider community are encouraged to provide feedback on how the issues in the questions relate to their experiences of higher education, and to respond in a way that is relevant to their context.
The consultations on modernising and strengthening TEQSA’s powers also include forums and targeted consultation sessions.
