Call for Abstracts

ADCET invites academics and practitioners in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to present at the UDL Symposium 2024. The event aims to share knowledge, expertise, and foster a nationwide network within the Australian Tertiary Education sector focused on the following themes.

Themes

  • The "how to" of implementing UDL
    Learn practical techniques, frameworks, and best practices for designing inclusive learning experiences
  • Measuring the impact of UDL
    Discover effective methods for measuring the impact of UDL implementation including positive stories and their influence on student success
  • UDL Outside the Classroom
    Explore how UDL principles can be applied beyond the traditional classroom setting to foster inclusive learning experiences
  • UDL and Assessment
    Delve into strategies for designing assessments that align with UDL principles and support diverse learners.
  • Developing an inclusive culture through UDL
    Engage in discussions on applying the principles of UDL to foster a more inclusive tertiary education experience.
  • AI and UDL
    Investigate the intersection of artificial intelligence and UDL, exploring how emerging technologies can enhance inclusive learning environments.

Presentation Styles

Presentations can be either in-person or online

  • Presentation: 20-minute slot, may be part of a panel (15-minute allowed for presentation + 5-minute Q&A)
  • Presentation: 55-minute slot (45-minute presentation + 10-minute Q&A)
  • Workshop: 55-minute slot (eg: 15-minute briefing + 40-minute interactive session)

Submission Requirements

  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words
  • Contact Information
  • Additional Authors (if applicable)
  • Indicate your preference for presentation format (in person or online)
  • Presentation Theme
  • Presentation Title and Brief Description - under 50 words
  • Brief Abstract - under 300 words

Important dates

Abstract Submission Deadline: 13th May 2024, 10am AEST
Notification of Acceptance: 20th May 2024
Presentation Due: 3rd June 2024
