First National Virtual Disability Conference

Event details

Banner. First national virtual disability conference. 21st March, 2018. Better Evidence. Better OUtcomes. The Australian disability community in conversation online.

The University of Melbourne, National Disability Services, Scope Australia, and a network of disability organisations and universities invite you to attend the first National Virtual Disability Conference: On-line 21st March, 2018.

This exciting, inaugural virtual conference will bring people together on-line in real time from around the world to share best practice and discuss ways of supporting people with disability, their families and service providers.

The conference will include people with disabilities, their families, professionals, administrators, policy makers, and researchers. Plain language versions of all abstracts will be available prior to the conference.

The conference will be accessed via computer, land line phone or any mobile device from the convenience of people’s home or office. This will enable devices to be adjusted for best access of speech, Auslan interpreters and captions. Participants can join real-time on-line discussions with the presenters.

For those who prefer face to face engagement, Telstra is hosting conference hubs in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, with more locations to be announced (dependent on participant numbers. Limited spaces available).

Following the conference, discussions will continue on-line in forums, and conference materials will be available to down-load.

The conference has four streams:

  1. Health and well being
  2. Life-long education
  3. Community Living
  4. Meaningful occupation
