Student Accessibility and Equity Specialist - UNE
Employment status: Armidale, Tamworth & North West NSW. Continuing, Full time. $107,371 – $124,606 per year
The Student Accessibility and Equity Specialist at the University of New England (UNE) is responsible for leading and managing UNE's accessibility and equity function, delivering innovative services and expert advice to support students with disabilities or additional barriers to their studies. The Specialist is responsible for driving best practices in accessibility, including study access plans, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility, while collaborating with faculty and central portfolios to improve access.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven success leading a high-performing team dedicated to accessibility and equity, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across Student Services. You will have driven initiatives to enhance accessibility, including digital access to learning materials, and transition study access plan administration to a more efficient, partially automated system. You will understand data and be able to identify trends and ensuring UNE can model best practices and aligns policies with sector standards. You will also oversee compliance with legislative and policy requirements while preparing reports and contributing to strategic projects as needed in a previous role.
The role involves maintaining resources, providing expert advice to University leadership, enabling alternative assessments and technologies, and building strong professional networks to deliver high-quality services to students.
