Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support - fee-free in 2025
The Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support is being offered by the University of Tasmania fee-free in 2025.
This course has been specifically designed to provide a contemporary qualification for people who:
- Are already working in disability, mental health, aged care, youth work and other social and community services seeking a university qualification which builds upon and evidences their sector experience, or
- Are interested in starting a career in the social care and community services sectors, or
- Have completed previous study (such as our Undergraduate Certificate) and would like to build upon this qualification.
The Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support comprises 8 units (subjects) which can be studied either part-time (1-2 units per semester) or full-time (3-4 units per semester). The course can be studied fully online, allowing participants to build the contemporary knowledge, skills and practices foundational to a broad range of 'helping professional' roles, from anywhere in Australia.
Completing the Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support will also provide graduates with one year of advanced standing toward a Bachelor of Social Work.
Important information:
- The fee waiver currently ONLY applies to study that takes place in the 2025 calendar year. If students study part-time and do not complete all of the units in 2025, they may need to pay fees for any additional units taken in 2026 or beyond (can be deferred through the Australian Government's HECS/HELP program).
- The fee waiver ONLY applies to units undertaken as part of the new Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support structure (Z1H). The units available for waiver are outlined on this page under 'Course Structure'.
- If you have any further questions about how you might make the most of this opportunity and what options are available to you, please contact U.Connect@utas.edu.au
