ADCET in Review - Upskill in UDL
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a learning design approach that recognises that there is no ‘average’ learner and instead considers the broadest possible range of needs and preferences of all learners.
When applied to learning, UDL enables inclusive curriculum design, development and delivery. It embraces learner variability, designs for it, and reduces barriers to learning – creating a greater sense of belonging and empowerment for learners. UDL reduces the need for reasonable adjustments and enhances the experience of all learners, including those with disability.
We’ve created a range of resources to help educators and organisations embed UDL within their practice:
- The free online UDL in Tertiary Education eLearning course available on the Disability Awareness website aims to increase your ability to design, develop, and implement UDL into teaching practice
- Organisations can register to download the course’s SCORM files, allowing the UDL in Tertiary Education eLearning course to be provided directly through their own Learning Management Systems.
- The UDL Community of Practice (COP) meets regularly and is a place for practitioners to share tips and best practice, ask questions and provide support. Register your interest in joining the COP.
- The UDL newsletter is the best way to stay up to date with what’s happening in Australia and internationally. Subscribe to receive the newsletter.
- You can also keep up with UDL on social media by following on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
