Consultations now open: Review of the Disability Standards for Education
On 16 July 2020, public consultation commenced for the 2020 Review (the Review) of the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (the Standards). The Standards were established to ensure students with disability in Australia can access and participate in education and training on the same basis as students without disability.
The Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment is undertaking a review of the Standards through an extensive community consultation process. The Standards are reviewed every five years to test if they are effective in achieving their objects and whether any improvements could be made.
Current, former and prospective students with disability, their families and carers, advocates, educators and other members of the public are invited to share their experiences, views and ideas to inform the Review. A discussion paper has been developed with guiding questions to help you have your say.
There is a range of different ways you can share your views and ideas. To register to be involved or to make a submission visit the Consultation Hub.
The consultations are open until 11.59 pm AEST on Friday, 25 September 2020.
For more information on how to get involved, email The Social Deck at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0491 617 118.
