ADCET Webinar: Using technology in the classroom for Deaf students

This webinar was hosted by ADCET and the Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND) in May, 2016.

Gary Kerridge was the presenter and he discussed the using assistive technology for delivery of Auslan and captioning for Deaf students. The presentation included strategies for delivering remote interpreting and captioning in various education situations through assistive technology, mobile devices and the Internet. He also presented information on a number of listening devices and how they can benefit classroom situations.

Gary is Deaf and has been a disability professional for nearly 30 years. This includes 12 years as an National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO). Throughout his career, in both education and employment, Gary has developed a wealth of knowledge and strategies around reasonable adjustments, particularly around deafness. The internet and development of mobile technology has opened up many doors previously closed for deaf professionals.
