The National Disability Coordination Officer Programme will assist people with a disability to access post-school education and training, and subsequent employment, through a comprehensive national network of 31 National Disability Coordination Officers ('NDCOs' or 'officers').  These officers will offer information, coordination and referral services for people with a disability who are interested in, or enrolled in, post-school education and training.

The Programme has the following three key objectives:

  • Improved transitions for people with a disability between school and/or the community and Higher Education and/or Vocational Education and Training, and then on to subsequent employment;
  • Improved participation by people with a disability in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training, and subsequent employment; and
  • Improved linkages between schools, Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training providers and providers of disability programmes and assistance, such as those funded by the Department of Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
