A socially inclusive society is one in which all Australians feel valued and have the opportunity to participate fully. Completion of post-secondary education is crucial if people with disability are to participate equitably in society through improved employment and financial outcomes.
The ATEND Pathways 12 Conference brings together a range of professional and academic staff to identify and remove barriers for people with disability participating in higher education and training.
The Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND) is the peak body for disability practitioners in the tertiary and training sectors. ATEND's objectives are to influence policy through lobbying and advocacy, improve and maintain professional standards and provide and promote professional development. The ATEND Pathways Conference has been organised biennially throughout Australia for the last 20 years.
The Conference will be held in Perth from 3 - 5 December 2014 and will showcase a comprehensive program for delegates, with distinguished speakers exploring the theme 'Navigating New Frontiers'. In this field of practice we are constantly exploring new frontiers in providing access to people with disability, from adopting more innovative and universal practice models, maximizing emerging technologies, to
adapting to changes in legislation and policy that impact on the sector.
To ensure the best possible Conference, we need delegates from all over Australia and the world to share their insights and enthusiasm.
