Disability Support Pension

If you cannot work full time because of a long-term disability or illness, you may be eligible for a Disability Support Pension (DSP).

To qualify for the DSP, you must be over 16, complete an income and assets test, and have the necessary level of impairment. You must also have been a permanent resident for ten years, if you had the disability at the time you arrived in Australia. At the time of printing, people who are legally blind qualify for the DSP regardless of income and assets.

DSP recipients have a concession card for a variety of discounts and free services. For more information, phone Centrelink on 131021 or visit the website http://www.centrelink.gov.au/.
