Online study refers to all or part of a course unit or
subject being available online via the internet. Tertiary institutions are
increasing the amount of courses, programs and individual subjects
that are available online. This form of study can be part
of an external course or program in addition to being part of an
internal subject or course. Students who study online can access their course or
unit subject notes without having to attend campus. Computer suites available for
students to access on campus. The advantage of online study is that students
can study at home at their own pace.

study.
Mixed mode study refers to course subjects or units
that are undertaken through a combination of study modes both on and off
campus that may include external or internal study,
full or
part time study or study
online. Though the content and standards of
external and
internal study
are the same the experience can be very different. On campus teaching relies
mainly on group based activities where students are taught in groups in lectures,
tutorials, practicals and workshops. This group based approach to
teaching is an important factor to consider when deciding on the
mode of study to choose.
Not all tertiary institutions offer subjects or
courses in mixed mode. To find out if your course offers this study mode contact the
education provider prior to applying.
