The
Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) is the central office that receives and processes applications for admission to undergraduate courses offered by publicly funded universities in Queensland, Bond University, the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania and some courses at universities in Northern New South Wales. QTAC also processes applications for full-time Advanced Diploma and Diploma courses at Queensland institutes of TAFE and for some private providers of post secondary courses. QTAC assesses each application and ranks eligible applicants in order of merit for each course according to the rules and guidelines provided by each tertiary provider. The role of QTAC is not to determine who will receive offers but to simply co-ordinate the process, and post notification of offers on behalf of tertiary institutions. QTAC is a non profit, public company established in 1990 by six Queensland universities. QTAC now services 16 institutions.
