Welcome to the Education to Employment Package for Employers. This
Package has been written for employers to provide specific information
about the employment of people with disabilities.
The information presented in this Package will demonstrate that:
- People with disabilities can and do work.
- People with disabilities can and do make good employees.
- People with disabilities are employed in jobs because of their skills and abilities.
- Employers employ people with disabilities because they are the best candidates for the jobs.
- Many employers do not believe that the employment of people with disabilities is hard work.
As an employer, you may be uncertain as to what your role is in employing people with disabilities. You may be unsure of:
- The rights and responsibilities of people with disabilities and your role and responsibilities under disability legislation.
- Your role and responsibility if an employee with a disability discloses their disability to you.
- The best way to develop recruitment processes that attract a diverse work population, including people with disabilities.
