Social Inclusion and Exclusion of Culturally Diverse Communities: Strategies and Experiences

Jointly convened by UTAS and Victoria University

This conference will bring together migrant and refugee communities, service providers, State and Federal Government agencies, community groups, education providers, employers, unions, and academics to identify:
- The reasons for and nature of social exclusion of migrant and refugee communities
- Policies and practices that lead to the social inclusion of migrant and refugee communities.
The conference will be based around five themes:
- Employment, education and training
- Housing
- Social health and wellbeing for both migrant/refugee and host communities
- Family and relationship sustainability
- Racism and law enforcement.
The conference will draw on national and international experiences, including benchmarks of inclusive societies, but has a particular interest in the Tasmanian experience.
