Providing services inclusively benefits all students and is cost effective in the medium term. While some students with disability may do things in ways different from others they still have similar needs and responsibilities to their peers. It is not the disability itself, but the effect the disability has on the student’s ability to use services that is relevant.
The DDA through the Disability Standards for Education requires institutions to take reasonable steps to ensure that the student is able to access support services used by students in general, on the same basis as a student without a disability, and access specialised support services.
