Introduction: Our aim is to provide a forum for information exchange, professional development and support, discussion, networking, and action on relevant student services issues in TAFE and higher education sectors. TAFESSNET gives a high priority to providing low cost professional development for members.
Although based in Victoria, we have many members interstate and they sometimes benefit from attending in Melbourne, receiving notes from the seminars or downloading documents from the website. Peer consultation and peer support is usually informal and communication often occurs by email or phone.
Each ANZSSA member by right of their membership can become affiliated with up to three professional interest areas. Inclusion in the TAFESSNET Professional Interest Group occurs when the TAFESSNET Professional Group is indicated on the completed ANZSSA membership application form.
Mission statement: The TAFESSNET Group is provided for the benefit of those who are employed as counsellors or other support staff within the Australia or New Zealand post-secondary education sector, focussing on TAFE and VET but inclusive of higher education to reflect the new realities of the education market. The key goals of the group are networking, professional development, information and resource sharing and discussion.
Responsibilities of the Convenor: The TAFESSNET Group has a Convenor. The responsibilities of the Convenor are to:
- represent the interests of the Counsellors Professional Group on the ANZSSA Executive
- initiate professional development opportunities for counsellors in post-secondary education
- promote the sharing of information and resources via the ANZSSA website and the ANZSSA Bulletin Board
- be a contact point for ANZSSA members who are counsellors in post-secondary education
- encourage the submission for publication (in JANZSSA) of articles relevant to counselling in post-secondary education.
